UFC fighter Sedriques Dumas remains in jail after his arrest in April on serious charges including home invasion, battery, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. His latest legal troubles stem from an altercation with the mother of his children, according to police reports obtained by MMA Fighting.

On the day of the incident, authorities responded to a disturbance call in Escambia County, Florida. The victim, who shares a child with Dumas, reported that he entered her home through an unlocked front door. Witnesses described how Dumas aggressively pushed through the back door and forcibly took her phone while she was speaking with her current boyfriend.

The victim attempted to retrieve her phone, informing Dumas that he would be going to jail. In response, Dumas stated, “If I’m going to jail then I’m going to get my rings back.” He allegedly tried to remove a ring from her finger but was unsuccessful. In an alarming escalation, Dumas physically threw her around the room and pushed her into a large wooden vase. He also reportedly snatched a $400 necklace from her neck before leaving the scene.

Dumas drove away in his black BMW but soon returned to throw the woman’s phone back into her yard. Distressed, the victim sought help from a passerby who called 911. At the time of the police arrival, she appeared shaken and was crying. Officers noted visible injuries, including fresh bruises and scratches on her arms and legs.

As police gathered evidence, the victim continued receiving calls from Dumas and messages from his new girlfriend, including a text pleading, “You OK, please don’t put him in jail.” The police documented her injuries alongside evidence of these communications, which included texts from Dumas and his girlfriend.

Authorities later located Dumas at another residence where his vehicle was parked. He was found hiding in a dog crate inside a shed. A subsequent search of Dumas' black BMW uncovered approximately 51 grams of marijuana, several half-burnt joints, and a black Beretta handgun hidden inside a UFC-branded bag. Additionally, police found drug paraphernalia and items belonging to the victim, including a broken piece of the stolen necklace.

During questioning, Dumas claimed he had permission to enter the victim’s home to retrieve his belongings. He asserted that after his arrival, the victim gave him the necklace but refused to return the ring, leading to a physical confrontation. Dumas alleged that the victim attacked him first by throwing a vase and scratching his leg, resulting in his own injuries.

Police cited Dumas' history as a professional UFC fighter, referencing past encounters that made his identity known to authorities. After verifying his status as a convicted felon, they arrested him based on the accumulated evidence. He faces multiple charges: home invasion/robbery, domestic violence battery, possession of marijuana over 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Dumas, 29, currently remains in custody with a bond set at $558,500. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 23. Notably, just two weeks before his arrest, Dumas competed in the UFC, suffering a first-round TKO loss to Michał Oleksiejczuk. UFC officials have not issued a comment regarding his legal situation.
