He is still on a ventilator and ECMO to support him while he heals. There are good days and bad days, but on the good days, he has been able to open his eyes and show some responsiveness. That said, his body cannot handle coming off sedation too much just yet.”
Amy also noted the gravity of the situation, mentioning, “I’m praying for a miracle with his current lungs, but they are currently starting the evaluation process for a lung transplant.” This underscores the seriousness of Ben Askren’s condition, as healthcare professionals assess his situation.
