Following a challenging period in his career, JaCobi Jones has bounced back with impressive performances in his last two fights. After experiencing a setback on Dana White’s Contender Series and losing his lightweight title to Kegan Gennrich, Jones claimed victory at LFA 211 held on Friday in Salamanca, New York. This win marks his second consecutive triumph, bringing his professional record to 8-3.
Reflecting on his past struggles, Jones recognizes the lessons learned from his defeats. “They definitely put me in the position that I needed to be in,” he stated. With determination, Jones admitted that he felt invincible before those losses, which ultimately guided him toward a transformative path. “I made a big move in my life, moving down to Phoenix with coach Crouch and the Lab and all those guys. They definitely put me back together,” he explained, emphasizing the importance of training at The MMA Lab under the guidance of coach John Crouch.
Now on a two-fight win streak, Jones is eager for another opportunity to showcase his skills on a bigger stage. He expressed his readiness, saying, “we’re just waiting on the call, you know. Anything, any time, anywhere.” One potential opportunity lies in the upcoming season of Dana White’s Contender Series, with rumors circulating about former opponents of Jones appearing on the show. Despite outclassing those fighters previously, he does not harbor any jealousy. “It’s not annoying at all. Those guys worked their asses off to get to those positions,” he stated, showcasing humility and acknowledgment of their efforts.
Jones candidly reflected on his past experience during his time on the Contender Series, saying, “I know what I did in my position on the Contender Series and what went wrong in that period of my life.” He is now more prepared and optimistic for a second chance. “If they give me the opportunity to go back and get that again, I’ll be ready this time,” he declared, underscoring his willingness to take on any challenge. Whether it means short-notice fights or anything else, Jones is ready to prove himself again. “I’m tired of getting paid $1000 to do that to people,” he said, sending a clear message to Dana White and the UFC. “So Dana, give me a call.”
Financially, Jones believes he deserves more reward for his hard work inside the cage. “They spent more on surgery and putting stitches in these guys than putting in my pocket,” he quipped, highlighting the need for fair compensation. The message is clear: Jones is ready for the next level, and he’s eager for the fight promotions to take notice.
